Latest ACLA News.

New Strategic Planning Committee:

After an online advertisement circulated to registered members on www.cdl-family.com, the first ACLA strategic planning committee now has 9 committee members representing almost every continent of the world, and every decade of CDL alumni.

The committee’s objective is to develop goals and strategies that will help enhance the action and relevancy of our association's alumni programming.

In order to achieve this, members will brainstorm on several topics including:

  1. Engaging the community - How do we encourage alumni and student participation in alumni programs? Who should we target? How do we reach both recent graduates and older alumni? How do we do more to increase participation from the Francophone Section?

  1. Serving the community - How many programs do we run? Should we be aiming at many small reunions and events spread out all over the globe or at running only a few, larger events? Should we be providing other services such as career counselling or support, travel opportunities, etc.?

  1. Supporting learning and CDL - Are there areas in which we can support the programs offered by Collège du Léman? How do we share our knowledge and experience with current students, teachers and administrators? Should the association run some events jointly with school departments?

A survey will soon be circulated to alumni and ACLA members asking for input on our discussions.

For any questions, or to participate in our strategic planning effort, email Alexis at alumni@cdl.ch.

Latest CDL News.

Morning News Broadcast: The executive committee of the student government, along with some helpful friends, now stay after school every day for an hour to film a news broadcast for the next morning. Any information for the students about sporting events, activities, etc. is conveyed through this broadcast. There's still a lot of work to be done to make it more professional, but the original initiative that the student government took is growing as the quality of the broadcast improves.

Halloween Dance: This year's Halloween dance will be an event to remember! The student government, along with the National Honor Society, are planning a night with a haunted house, fortune telling, themed food, and a spooky surprise that is top secret...Everyone in the high school and the middle school will want to be there!

Painting the Lounge: Last year, the juniors and seniors at CDL were provided with a comfortable student lounge, but its walls are a bare white. The student government has held a competition for ideas on how to decorate it, and they have been submitted. After approval by the administration, the ideas will be voted on by the junior and senior classes, and the decided decoration idea will be put into action as soon as possible.
