HOW TO PURCHASE REAL ESTATE OFFSHORE SAFELY: THE CASE OF THAILAND

Written by a lawyer with 20 years of experience in real est ate, “How
to Purchase Real Estate Offshore Safely: The Case of Thailand” will teach
buyers of offshore real estate all they need to know about the critical issues
to be considered and how to avoid the many pitfalls or traps awaiting the
unwary investor. Among the many subjects discussed are: how to recognize good
developers from bad ones, leasehold vs. freehold, whether you can trust your
agent, and foreign currency exchange.
Unlike many books of its type, the subject is discussed in a clear and
easy-to-understand manner, and employs an approach that encourages reflection
and questioning. The objective of the book is not only to impart knowledge and
experience but to raise buyers’ awareness to all potential dangers and
how to avoid them.
The book is divided in two sections. In the first section (Book One) Rene
Philippe discusses the general issues to be addressed by a buyer who purchases
real estate outside his home country and illustrates them using examples from
transactions which take place in Thailand. Book Two deals with specific Thai
legal issues concerning property law. It contains checklists that will help you
reduce your risks when purchasing real estate in Thailand.
Readers can purchase the book now at Asia Books or order it direct via contact@renephilippe.com. It
will soon be on the shelves at bookstores throughout the country. Readers
outside Thailand may order the printed or eBook version online at

Lectors’ reviews
“I believe that this book will be extremely helpful to potential real
estate buyers here in Thailand…This book discusses some notable examples
and proceeds to inform the reader with all that he needs to know about
purchasing real estate in Thailand so that such mistakes can be avoided and
their purchase secured to the extent that the law allows. There is an abundance
of misinformation and resulting confusion in Thailand in respect of property
law, and to have an easy to read, clear and complete guide to clarify the
subject is worth a good deal more than the price of this well written
book.”

“To own property in a warm, sunny and friendly country
is a powerful desire. It can also be a financial trap for the unwary and
uninformed. Rene Philippe's book is an easy to read practical guide on what you
need to know to make a safe property investment particularly in Thailand. If
you want to avoid financial loss and emotional grief, read this book before you
buy.”
